BIOGRAPHY

Yannick Duhamel is a French visual artist and sculptor, born in Clermont-Ferrand in 1974 and based in Normandy. A self-taught artist, he has developed a singular artistic language using iconic materials: cutting, assembling, and sculpting vinyl records to shape portraits that are seen like photographs and listened to like musical scores.

Drawing on the nostalgia of music and the power of popular icons, Duhamel has established a precise working framework in which material, musical memory, and image resonate with one another. In his compositions, each vinyl record becomes a gesture and a fragment of shared culture; each reconstructed face reconnects the intimate history of music with our gaze.

Across his series—whether monumental or modular—the artist explores the tension between presence and abstraction, between hearing and sight, turning his sculptures into invitations to watch music and listen to the image.
